Our home during the ten days in Italy will be the Agriturismo La Polledrara. During past visits to Ciociaria, La Polledrara has become a favorite painting place. With beautiful views in all directions La Polledrara is a landscape painters dream! Whether you’re drawn to the unparalleled view of the hill town of Paliano, only a few kilometers away, the classic Italian landscape of fields dotted with “umbrella” pines, or a stone grain tower, you won’t lack subject matter.
The restaurant at La Polledrara adheres to a “slow food” philosophy, using only fresh, locally grown ingredients (from their own gardens), to prepare incredible food. We’ll enjoy breakfast there each day, occasional dinners, and picnic lunches which we’ll take with us when we visit other locations to draw or paint.
There are only 7 rooms at La Polledrara. We’re limiting our guest total to 6 workshop participants, but can accommodate non-painting companions who share a room with workshop participants.* All rooms have private baths.
On evenings that we don’t dine in, we’ll visit restaurants in nearby villages. The restaurants of Ciociaria offer traditional “cucina casarecchia” (home style). You’ll feel like you’re eating at your Italian grandmother’s house, and more often than not, the cook is someone’s grandmother!
We’ll plan an outing at least once during our workshop to a town or other site of historical or cultural interest . In past years we’ve visited the seaside town of Sperlonga, the Abbey of Montecassino, and the artists’ village of Cervara di Roma.
As our guests during Discover Ciociaria, you’ll be treated like a member of our extended family. We strive to keep a relaxed pace, to enjoy our little sojourn and to experience “la dolce vita.” A small group guarantees attention to detail in all we do.
*Please note that non painting companions will need to provide their own transportation during days when the main group is out on location if they don’t wish to remain at La Polledrara. A rental car is recommended.
